Second Annual Technology and Life Sciences Report Released

Expansion comes with limitations for technology and life sciences companies, but the limitations don't appear to be coming from financial resources. In the second annual technology and life sciences survey conducted by CBIZ and Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C.*, companies in the sector expressed trouble finding and keeping an adequate workforce.

Nearly 86 percent of respondents said increased competition for talent and employee retention have a large effect on their company. Nevertheless, companies plan to grow their workforce. Nearly 96 percent of respondents plan to hire in the next 24 months, with 34 percent planning to hire between 11 and 50 new full-time employees.

Balancing between these workforce considerations with the still stagnant economic climate may make the coming months a challenge for the sector. Our second annual Growth & Employment Trends in the Technology & Life Sciences Sector report explores some of these trends in more detail. Along with top opportunities and obstacles, the 16-page report also covers physical expansion plans, workforce satisfaction, funding sources and planned fundraising, among other topics that have a bearing on technology and life sciences companies' long-term planning.
