Janet O'Neill and Catherine R. Latham Promoted to Shareholders of Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C.
LEAWOOD, KS (May 5, 2014) – Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. (MHM) announces new shareholders, Janet O'Neill and Catherine R. Latham. Both are members of the firm's Tofias New England Division and located in the Boston office.
Janet O'Neill has built her career dedicated to the not-for-profit sector. As a member of the firm's Not-for-Profit Audit Practice, she has extensive experience providing audit and consulting services to the not-for-profit industry, including the health and human services, education, and cultural sectors. She manages financial statement audits and offers recommendations on internal controls, operations and accounting issues. Additionally, she has developed expertise in the area of regulatory and reimbursement issues for various types of agencies, including nursing homes, home health organizations, Chapter 766 schools, adult day health centers, social service organizations and other human service providers. She also has extensive A-133 experience, and is a leader in the firm's A-133 specialty group. Prior to joining MHM, O'Neill worked at a National firm, also in the Not-for-Profit practice.
O'Neill has been recognized in the social and human services industry as an expert on regulatory reporting issues and requirements and has been a featured speaker at various workshops and seminars. Additionally, she is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. O'Neill also serves on the Providers Council Business Practices Committee, the Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools Contracts and Reimbursements Committee and the Pope John High School Audit Committee. O'Neill received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Merrimack College.
Catherine R. Latham joined the firm in 1998 and works with closely-held businesses in various industries including professional services, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. She provides a range of services including audits and reviews of financial statements and consulting on various matters. Latham is also a member of the firms Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice and conducts audits for various types of retirement plans for both for-profit and not-for-profit entities.
Latham is a frequent instructor within the firm's National Level Training program responsible for teaching a range of technical and soft skill courses. She is an ex-officio member of the firm's Audit Methodology Steering Committee, a group responsible for developing and overseeing the methodology and practice aids to be used when conducting attest engagements. Within the New England division, she is a member of the technology committee, oversees the mentor program within the audit department, publishes a monthly employee newsletter and actively participates in the firm's recruiting efforts.
Latham is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. At Salem University she is an adjunct faculty member within the Bertolon School of Business. Latham received her Master of Business Administration degree from Suffolk University and Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College.
