Webinar: Accounting for Indirect Costs in Construction Contracts

Contractors have several methods from which to choose when allocating indirect costs to their construction projects. SOP 81-1 provides some guidance but leaves room for judgment. Facts and circumstances, information available and accounting systems may make some allocation methods more preferable than others.

This course covers the accounting requirements and implementation strategies for the application of indirect costs to projects, including equipment costing. As a prerequisite, attendees should have a basic understanding of accounting guidance under SOP 81-1.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Understand accounting requirements for allocating indirect costs to projects
  • Identify and develop areas for improvement within your organization as it relates to indirect cost allocation
  • Better utilize your accounting software to aid in allocation procedures
